Yep, that’s right you can win some (money, that is) and you can lose some (kilos, that is) if you are part of this contest. Our goal is to promote healthier lifestyles in the Great Lakes area via a contest that focuses on healthy weight loss and weight control through health and fitness education and team camaraderie.
So do you want to be healthier and fitter in the most fun way possible? You’ve got nothing to lose but a few kilos. So get yourself a team, put your money where your mouth is, and let’s take it off!

What is the Fitness2428’s "Biggest Winner- Ultimate Thinner" Challenge?

  1. A 12-week weight-loss/wellness competition organised by Great Lakes Fitness experts Kerryann and Fergus Hayes of Fitness2428 Personal Training Studio and sponsored by Fitness2428.
  2. The challenge will begin with a weigh-in on Friday 27 August 2010 and will end with a weigh-in on Friday 19 November 2010. 
  3. Teams of 4 people compete to lose the highest percentage of weight - not necessarily the highest amount of weight - during the competition. (i.e. a team starting weight of 300kg and ending weight of 255kgs would be a loss of 15% body weight)
  4. Cash prizes (based on number of participants) will be disbursed to the top teams and individuals at the end of the 12 weeks.

What are the benefits of Fitness2428’s "Biggest Winner- Ultimate Thinner" Challenge?

  1. Weight loss and regular exercise lead to better overall health.
  2. Team competition promotes camaraderie, encouragement, accountability and motivation among team members and others.
  3. A bit of competitive fun that disadvantages no one....Any team and any individual can win! Plus there are loads of other great prizes to win for just being involved!
  4. Healthier people have less medical expenses, which may decrease health insurance premiums.
  5. Weight loss leads to more energy, increased productivity, and higher self esteem and will get you feeling great before 2010-2011 summer comes around.

 How does it work?

  1. Participants form a four person team, which can consist of friends, workmates, family etc.
  2. Once registered (see how to register) each team member must weigh-in each Friday (weigh-ins are private) between 6am and 6pm at Fitness2428 in Wharf St Forster . 
  3. Bring your entry fee $15 + first $5 ($20 total in cash) to the first weigh-in (Launch Night Fri August 27th). We do not accept cheques or credit cards. You may pre-pay the entire $80 up front.
  4. Each week you pay $5 (cash only) to remain in the competition. You do NOT have to weigh-in with teammates.
  5. Each week you miss a weigh in their is a $5 fine
  6. For every 0.5kg gained, as of the previous week’s weigh-in, the person must pay $2 (i.e. if you gained 1 kilo since the last weigh-in, you’ll owe $4).
  7. All financials have to be up to date by the end of the 12 week challenge for participants and teams to be eligible for cash prizes.
  8. Cash prizes are distributed at the end of the competition to the top teams and overall biggest losers. Fees collected from team members are distributed to the winning teams and individuals in the end.

Why will it be successful?

  1. Team effort motivates participants to stay focused on losing weight through diet and exercise.
  2. Cash prizes motivate participants to remain competitive throughout the 12-week program.
  3. Team members choose their own diet and exercise program. Fitness2428 will provide a basic nutritional guideline.

Who can join the contest?

  1. Any business or work place, community or sporting group or individual may form a 4 person team.  
  2. Anyone who wants to lose weight (at least 4 kilo’s) may participate - youth and adults.
  3. Please form your own 4 person team. We can help you find teammates. You must start the contest as a team of 4.
  4. Event organizers may choose to not allow some persons to be in the contest, if they feel the person does not need to lose weight (i.e. underweight, pregnant).
